SLIS students have until February 15, 2013 to apply for scholarships administered by the School.  Students who have been admitted to the School but have not started classes are eligible to apply for scholarships.  We encourage all SLIS students to apply!

 Students must submit a 250 word statement on why they should receive a scholarship. All students who  apply will automatically be considered for the LIS General Scholarships.

Since students can apply for only two SLIS-administered scholarships, we encourage students to read the criteria carefully. Some scholarships have precise location or career goal requirements so that any student who qualifies will face less competition than is the case for the more general scholarships.  

We also encourage students, especially those with higher GPA’s, to apply for the Wayne State University Graduate Professional Scholarships whose details may be found at:  http://gradschool.wayne.edu/funding/sources.php  The Graduate Professional Scholarship (GPS) provides full tuition funding for Fall 2013 and Winter 2014 semesters.  The scholarship application requires recommendation letters so that students need to get an earlier start on completing their applications.  The application deadline for the GPS is March 1, 2013.
