Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3) Requirement
All students in the School are required to present passing scores on the 3 separate IC3 exams upon enrolling in a program of study. The Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3) is a series of three exams in the following areas - Computing Fundamentals, Key Applications and Living Online. Students must take the 2007 Standard (based on Windows Vista (and some Mac) and Office 2007 to fulfill this requirement.
Each exam has a 45 minute time limit and will cost $30 per exam. Exams must be taken at a Certiport testing center - for a complete list of centers, please visit http://www.certiport.com. Students in metro Detroit may take the exam at Wayne State by contacting the SLIS office at 313-577-1825 or asklis@wayne.edu.
Remember, tests taken at SLIS have one free retake.

New Students (Spring/Summer 2009 and after):
IC3 exam scores from the 2007 Standard Exam must be submitted upon enrolling in LIS 6080.

Certiport Transcripts – Submitting Your IC3 Score Reports
- Go to http://www.certiport.com.
- Log in with the username and password you used when you took the exam.
- Under the MyCertiport tab, select My Transcript.
- For View Mode, select the Personal View (Authorized View does not have the necessary details).
- Click the Score Report button next to the exam report you want.
- Select the save button, and follow the steps to choose a name and location. Please include your name and the name of the test in the filename. Example: SmithJohnPowerPoint2007.pdf. Your file is now saved as a .pdf
Submitting Your Score:
- If exam is completed prior to application: Please upload your Certiport Transcripts in the transcript section when you submit your online application.
- If exam is completed prior to enrolling in LIS 6080: Please email a copy to Jan Utz at am3714@wayne.edu
